Ellington Racing and driver Ray Ellington Jr. locked up the Championship title for the Trailers of the East Coast Grand Stock Division at Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, N.C. Saturday night with yet another strong finish to complete the season at the fastest 3/8 mile track in America.

Starting 6th, due to winning the previous race (rule the track incorporated in 08 to make the action more exciting for the fans), Ellington drove the #11 Jammin for Jesus and Performance Builders sponsored Monte Carlo up to the 2nd position where he challanged for the win late in the race, but ran out of laps to complete the back to back wins. The second place finish gave the team its 12th top 5 in 14 starts for the 2008 season and was more than enough to secure the teams first Championship title in the very first year they competed for it at Orange County Speedway.
"I first and foremost want to thank Jesus Christ and give him all the glory for giving me the opportunity to accomplish this, and I can't begin to express my sincere thanks to all my crew, family, and friends who supported me this season, and thru all the bad seasons as well. My better half Cory for putting up with me staying gone all the time to chase my dream, and my little miracles Brianna and Laci for which I have missed so much being on the road. My mom and dad who have supported me in every way, and sacrificed so much to help me get here, and my cousin Les Moreland who helped get this operation going and has been there since day one. Brian Lowman (owner of Performance Builders of Evington, Va.) has pretty much taken us on his back this season putting his own driving career on hold while helping me go after this championship maintaining the car for me while I have been on the road working two full time jobs trying to fund the team, and for supplying the hauler when ours broke down late in the season. We did not have the dominating car here this season but were by far the most consistant and that is what wins championships."
Ellington later explained, " I want to dedicate this championship to my late friend Robbie Thompson whom we lost two years ago Christmas to cancer, I promised him he would live on through me in racing and we would win a race and a championship for him, and thanks to the Jesus Christ that is exactly what we did. What makes it even more special is we did it at the track where he ran his last race exactly 2 years from the day we locked up the championship, and did it with the motor he was running in his car, so he was definitely a part of it, and I know he is proud and I can hear him saying "At least for a little while - Tiny time is Big time now"." Ray explains that Tiny Time Racing is how the two referred to each other because they both struggled to afford, and get the help each needed to race and get the up to date equipment it took to compete at the top level of competition.
"I also need to thank my sponsors for 2008: Jammin for Jesus Tour with John Sines Jr., Performance Builders, Fosters Convenience, Liberty Hockey, WYYD 108 FM, Raliegh Signs, Endicott Online, and all the officials and staff at Orange County Speedway for making us feel a part of the family this year. We are proud to represent you as your 2008 Champion."
Look for Ellington Racing to appear at Liberty Hockey home games begining on Friday Oct. 24th and 25th, as well as at Cattle Annies on Sunday November 2nd for the John Sines Jr. and Tammy Cochran concert. We will also be at a number of John Sines Jr. concerts on the Jammin for Jesus Tour. For more info on that go to www.johnsinesjr.com
